(WWJ) -- Gas prices in Michigan are getting closer and closer to dipping down into the $3 threshold.
Gas prices in the state are now down 20 cents from a week ago, reports AAA.
Michiganders are now paying an average of $4.24 per gallon for regular unleaded, which is 76 cents less than this time last month and $1.04 more than this time in 2021.
Motorists are paying an average of $63 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; an increase of about $12 from when prices were their highest last November, AAA reports.
"Despite an increase in demand, Michigan pump prices continue to decline," said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson for AAA-The Auto Club Group. "If demand continues to increase, alongside a drop in stocks, motorists could see a slow down in the price decreases at the pump."
Compared to last week, Metro Detroit's average daily gas price decreased. Metro Detroit's current average is $4.20 per gallon, about 22 cents less than last week's average but still 91 cents more than this same time last year.
