CADILLAC (WWJ) — There was a “Bigfoot sighting” in Northern Michigan Wednesday night.
MSP Lt. Derrick Carroll told WWJ Newsradio 950’s Ryan Wrecker there was “a lot of commotion” in Cadillac Wednesday night after a pair of troopers spotted Bigfoot. And it wasn’t just one of those cutouts seen in farmlands or on the edge of the woods.
“This time we saw Bigfoot walking down the road on Division Street in Cadillac,” Carroll said. “So the troopers took quick action because they knew this wasn’t a cutout and they approached Bigfoot and much to their surprise, Bigfoot was actually a little bit smaller than them.”
He said there was “no language barrier” as troopers talked with Bigfoot and learned he was just out for an evening stroll and wasn’t “up to any mischief.”
In all actuality, troopers simply encountered a person walking around the area wearing a Bigfoot costume. The MSP Seventh District X page shared a photo of two troopers with Bigfoot in front of an MSP patrol car at a gas station.
He said it’s important for State Police to keep things lighthearted when they can.
“As you know, troopers are people too and we have a sense of humor and we always appreciate a fun night, such as this, where we can meet someone in the public who’s got their bigfoot costume on and we’re happy to promote it,” Carroll said.
Carroll said the man in the costume is looking forward to Halloween and is planning to do some candy shopping before the holiday rolls around. Carroll speculated Wednesday was a good night to bust out the costume and “air it out” so it doesn’t “smell like a real Bigfoot.”
“I can say I’ve been in the State Police for almost 30 years and this is the first known sighting and encounter troopers have had with Bigfoot,” Carroll joked.
