FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) – A Metro Detroit doctor who has worked with youth hockey programs in Michigan and Minnesota over the past two decades has been arrested and charged with sexual misconduct.
Dr. Zvi Levran is charged with four counts of third-degree CDC and three counts of fourth-degree CSC.
The charges come after a 19-year-old man filed a criminal complaint following a medical exam at the doctor’s home in Farmington Hills on Oct. 18. Prosecutors allege Levran sexually assaulted the patient during the exam.
Levran was arraigned Saturday and ordered held on $100,000. The doctor has pleaded not guilty.
If released, Levran must wear a GPS tether and has been given a number of other conditions:
May not leave the State of Michigan
Must surrender driver’s license and passports
Confined to home but may leave for work, medical emergencies, court and meetings with lawyer
May not treat patients at his home office
No contact with the victim or victim’s family
No contact with minors
No contact with hockey players or staff
Following the arraignment, Dr. Levran was transported to the Oakland County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Investigators believe other patients may have had similar experiences with Levran but haven’t come forward yet. Officials are encouraging any potential victims to call the Farmington Hills Police Department at 248-871-2610.
“All allegations of sexual assault are taken seriously by the Farmington Hills Police Department and complaints are thoroughly investigated with the utmost concern for victims,” Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King said in a press release.
“Our #1 goal is to keep our community safe and make sure victims feel safe coming forward,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said. “And that’s why we ask, if you have information, please call the Farmington Hills Police tip line at 248-871-2610.”
