(WWJ) – Michiganders spend most winters shoveling snow, braving icy roads and dreaming about summer weather. And when summer finally hits, we head out to the beaches and lakes, spend time by the pool, go hiking and enjoy the great outdoors.

But with all the good comes some bad. Last summer Metro Detroiters dealt with seemingly endless rain and flooding. This year, it’s been high heat, hail storms and even wildfires. Early Tuesday morning the U.P. was pelted by massive hail, while DNR officials continued to battle a blaze near Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

Meanwhile in Metro Detroit, we’re dealing with a heatwave as temperatures climb into the 90s, sending kids off to splash pads to stay cool. So what’s with all this wild and erratic weather in Michigan this summer? WWJ’s Zach Clark takes a look in a new edition of the Daily J.
