ISBELLA COUNTY (WWJ) - A Mid-Michigan man is facing reckless driving charges resulting in death after he allegedly chased and fatally struck a dirt bike rider with his pickup truck on Wednesday.

The Isabella County Sheriff's Office said the fatal crash occurred around 9:20 a.m. on Oct. 25 in the 7000 Block of West Stevenson Lake Road in Coldwater Twp., northwest of Mt. Pleasant,


Sheriff's deputies along with Michigan State Police, Isabella County Central Dispatch and Mobile Medical Response were all called out to the scene where a 29-year-old man was discovered dead upon arrival.

Based on their preliminary investigation, the deceased victim and another individual were circling a neighbor's home on dirt bikes prior to the crash.

The 54-year-old man who lived at the home went to his 2020 GMC pick-up truck as the dirt bikers took off and chased them down.

During the pursuit the man struck one of the bikes and killed the 29-year-old man riding it.

The man was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving causing Death, deputies said.

The case remains open and under investigation at this time. Neither the identity of the victim or the resident were released.
