WARREN, Mich (WWJ) - Two men are behind bars on a $1 million bond each, following a terrifying armed robbery and home invasion in Warren.
Macomb County prosecutors say 29-year-old Dwayne Lewis Jr. of Detroit and 35-year-old Davon Loveings of Pittsburgh broke into a man's apartment on June 10. Once inside, the pair allegedly held the victim at gunpoint, tied him up, and hit him in the head with a gun.
When Warren police officers arrived on the scene, they spotted the suspects taking off in a black Chevy Malibu. Officers chased the car until the passenger, Lewis, jumped out and tried to make a run for it. Police quickly caught up with him, and Loveings surrendered without a fight.
Both men are now facing a list of felony charges, including armed robbery, first-degree home invasion, and unlawful imprisonment. Because both men have prior criminal records, they could face even steeper sentences if convicted.
"Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and community. The allegations in this case involve serious acts of violence and intimidation that threatened both," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a statement. "Armed robbery and home invasion are among the most serious offenses we prosecute because they put lives at risk and undermine public safety. My office will continue working to hold violent offenders accountable and keep our communities safe."
If either man manages to post bond, a judge has ordered them to wear a GPS steel cuff tether and have no contact with the victim. They are both due back in court for a probable cause conference on June 25th.
