DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Police Department is asking for tips as investigators search for a hit-and-run driver who fled after a deadly crash.
At around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, police said the 21-year-old victim was riding his bicycle on Gilchrist, at W. McNichols, on the city's west side.
As he crossed McNichols, the young man was hit by an unknown suspect driving a dark colored minivan with gray or tan lower panels.
The vehicle continued eastbound on McNichols then northbound on Rutherford following the crash, police said, leaving the injured bicyclist in the street.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
On Friday, police released a surveillance photo of the suspect vehicle, hoping that someone in the public will recognize it and can help them to identify the driver.
