FRENCHTOWN TWP. (WWJ) – Three minors are facing potential charges after being caught on video breaking a woman’s window and stealing a rainbow colored flag in Monroe County last month.

The 32-year-old homeowner told police she was at her mobile home on Maurice Court on May 19 when she heard glass breaking. When she went to the front bedroom she found someone had thrown a rock through the window and stolen the pride flag that was hanging in the window.

The incident was captured on surveillance footage, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The video shows three people – later identified as two 13-year-old boys and a 12-year-old boy – walk up to the home and pick up a landscaping rock.

After throwing it through the window, one of the boys reached in the window and stole the flag, before they all ran away.

Two school resource officers with Airport Community Schools helped investigators identify the suspects.

The boys were identified on Tuesday and the stolen flag was recovered after being thrown into a nearby field, according to the sheriff's office.

The identities of the boys are being withheld because of their ages. The report has been forwarded to the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office for criminal charges. It was not clear what charges they may face.

Anyone who has additional information regarding this incident is asked to contact Deputy Moore at 734-240-7738.
