(WWJ) - A motorcyclist and her sister are both in custody after a police chase started in Redford Township and ended in Detroit.
Michigan State Police (MSP) said Redford Township Police requested assistance from Trooper 2 helicopter last Friday to follow a motorcycle that fled from their officers.
Trooper 2 found the motorcycle making its way to downtown Detroit, where troopers were positioned. The MSP troopers attempted to stop the motorcycle, but the biker continued driving. Troopers did not pursue as Trooper 2 was overhead and continued to follow the suspect.
As seen and heard in video posted on the MSP Twitter page, the motorcycle flees through busy intersections, over I-96, nearly misses being T-boned by a car and travels through major streets into Detroit, where the driver stops and pulls her bike into a garage.
Trooper 2 followed the driver to the home on Plainview at McNichols Road where troopers were able to convince the rider to exit the residence.
The 27-year-old female from Detroit was arrested.
While troopers were wrapping up the investigation, the arrested operator's sister arrived on scene.
The 21-year-old from Detroit allegedly began to interfere with the troopers and eventually bit one of them on his arm. That woman was also arrested.
"Another great job by MSP Aviation to get a dangerous driver off the roads in the safest way possible.” MSP First Lieutenant Mike Shaw said in a Tweet.
“We shouldn’t have to say it but, if your relative is getting arrested, do not assault the officers on scene. You will just end up in jail as well!”
Both sisters were lodged at the Detroit Detention Center pending prosecutor review.
