(WWJ) – Thousands of Michiganders will be hitting the roads this Labor Day weekend to get in one last slice of summer fun.
But Michigan State Police are warning drivers they'll be out in full force this weekend and cracking down on speeding.
MSP officials started that weekend enforcement a little early on Thursday.
A trooper working along I-94 in Jackson County clocked a driver going 100 mph. Officials said the 48-year-old driver was ticketed.
Officials say troopers will be patrolling this weekend looking for speeding, reckless and careless driving.
"Please drive posted speeds," MSP said in a tweet Thursday.
The holiday weekend crackdown comes after troopers handed out 77 traffic stops during a speed enforcement on I-696 in Metro Detroit earlier this week.
Officials said one driver was clocked going 101 mph, while others were ticketed for going 99, 94 and 91 mph.
