MSU Police identify 7 suspects in aggravated assault on 2 people at East Lansing campus main library

EAST LANSING (WWJ) -- An investigation at Michigan State University into a suspected hate crime has led police to seven suspects.

Michigan State Campus Police and Public Safety said in an update Wednesday that it has identified all seven suspects that were sought in connection with the assault of two people at the MSU Main Library, at at 366 W. Circle Drive on the East Lansing campus, Monday evening.

Police said that once the investigation is completed, it will be submitted to the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office with a request for charges against the suspects.

At this time, WWJ's Beth Fisher reported it's unclear if any arrests have been made.

Police said suspects assaulted two people that police said were selected because of their sexual orientation.

Police said none of the suspects are affiliated with MSU.

When issuing the initial campus alert about the attack, police noted that their suspects were all believed to be teenagers. Their names have not been released.
