EAST LANSING (WWJ) - Authorities say a fake bomb threat was called into Michigan State University Thursday evening.

Michigan State University Police and Public Safety received a call reporting a “bomb threat and weapons threat at multiple locations on campus” in the evening of March 7, the department said in a Facebook post.

Authorities didn’t think the threat was credible based on the call and other information, but still checked out the information.

“It has been confirmed by both our department and the FBI that this call was a hoax,” the statement said. “There is NO danger or threat to the community.”

Officers did investigate the locations that were mentioned in the call. The Facebook post praised the “quick response of our officers and assisting agencies in determining that this call was a hoax.”
