MILFORD (WWJ) – A reported multi-car crash on I-96 in Western Oakland County led to major traffic backups on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities have not released any details on the incident but WWJ traffic tipsters said the eastbound lanes of the freeway were backed up about two miles in the wake of the crash, which happened near Milford Road around 12:30 p.m.
It is not clear whether anyone was injured, but pictures from the scene showed multiple ambulances and police vehicles responding to the crash.
The freeway did not shut down completely, but traffic was down to one lane in the area and moving very slowly, if at all.
Traffic was backed up beyond the Kent Lake Road exit, with drivers being told to exit the freeway at Kensington. Traffic has since returned to normal.
