Cash reward still being offered nearly 2 years after fight at Downtown Detroit liquor store led to murder of two men

DETROIT (WWJ) – More than a year and a half after they were murdered, authorities are still searching for the person or people responsible for killing Marquese Smith and Teron Flowers in Downtown Detroit.

Smith and Flowers got into a fight with somebody at a liquor store near St. Aubin and Larned Streets around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021.


At some point the altercation spilled into the nearby neighborhood and it escalated to the point of gun violence.

Smith was fired upon while running away from the fight, authorities told WWJ in early 2022. He died in between two buildings of the nearby Martin Luther King, Jr. apartment complex.

Flowers was shot in the middle of St. Aubin and was taken to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a cash reward of up to $4,000 for tips that lead to an arrest in the case.
