(WWJ) — There are countless places to take breathtaking photos across Michigan — Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, the Mackinac Bridge, the Detroit skyline, any number of beaches during sunset.
But it’s not very often we get to see a breathtaking photo of all of Michigan.
A photo taken from the International Space Station showing both of Michigan’s peninsulas is getting lots of attention online.
The photo, taken from the northwest around 8:45 a.m. Monday shows the rising sun shining off the Great Lakes. It was taken with a Nikon D4 about 257 miles above Earth, with a sun elevation angle of 3 degrees.

The photo clearly shows the easily recognizable outline of the state, as well as inland lakes and even Mackinac Island.
NASA’s website features a zoom tool that gives an even more detailed look at the photo.
