DETROIT (WWJ) - The police are investigating a bomb threat that disrupted a Detroit church's Sunday service.
The Hartford Memorial Baptist Church, located at 18700 James Couzens Freeway, was evacuated Dec. 3 after the bomb threat was called in.
The Detroit News reported that the Detroit Police Department called the church during the 7:30 a.m. service, and informed one of the deacons that the building needed to be evacuated. Following a search and all clear by the police, the church held their service at 11 a.m.
The late Reverend Charles Adams worked at the church. Adams died Nov. 29 this year. Adams was the pastor the church for 52 years, before his retirement in 2019. A service will be held at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church on Dec. 14 and 15, according to The Detroit News article.
The Detroit Police said they did not find any credible evidence, but the investigation continues into the source of the threat.
