North and southbound I-75 closing this weekend for demolition of 4 bridges

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroiters should prepare for their weekend travel plans as I-75 will be partially closed in both directions from Friday night until Monday morning.

Continuation of construction on the Michigan Interchange for the Gordie Howe International Bridge project requires the temporary closure of northbound and southbound I-75 from Springwells Street to Clark Street in Detroit to allow for demolition of four bridges.

The closure begins Friday at around 11 p.m. and will re-open by 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13.

Northbound I-75 traffic will be reduced to one lane and drivers will be forced to exit at the northbound exit ramp at Springwells Street, continue south on that street, move east on Fort Street, north on Clark Street and then rejoin northbound I-75.

Southbound I-75 traffic will be reduced to one lane and forced to exit at the Clark Street I-75 exit ramp, continue north on Clark street, west on Vernor Highway, south on Junction, west on Fort Street and then rejoin southbound I-75.

Additionally, the Vernor Highway entry ramp to southbound I-75 will close, as well as the Ambassador Bridge entry ramp to southbound I-75.
