ALPENA (WWJ) – A Northern Michigan man is facing assault and domestic violence charges after a woman’s open 911 call led Michigan State Police to her shortly after he allegedly assaulted her.

It all began around 7:30 a.m. on April 19 when MSP got a 911 open line call from an address on Mac Avenue in Alpena.

Dispatchers could hear what they believed to be a woman crying, MSP officials said. They learned during the call that the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Mark Jason Delisle from Alpena, had left the scene driving a black Chevrolet pickup truck.

Troopers stopped and arrested Delisle while other troopers interviewed the victim.

She told troopers she believed Delisle was secretly injecting her cigarettes with methamphetamine.

Officials said Delisle and the victim began arguing when she attempted to call the police.

Delisle then allegedly “became angry and assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene,” according to MSP.

The victim was taken to Mid-Michigan Medical Center to be treated for her injuries.

Delisle was arraigned on Friday in 88th District Court in Alpena on one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and one count of domestic violence, his second offense.

His bond was set at $5,000 or 10%. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 10.

Authorities did not say whether or not Delisle was injecting the cigarettes with meth, though he has not been charged with any drug-related offenses.
