DETROIT (WWJ) -- The new multi-billion dollar Gordie Howe International Bridge won't be opening until next year.
That's according to bridge officials responding to a person who asked about the grand opening. Road work has been going on for weeks along I-75 near where the customs and toll plazas are located.
After posting about the freeway closing last Friday, a person responded that they heard the grand opening will be on December 20th. In response, the Bridge said the Project Team is progressing well toward construction completion this year with opening as soon as early 2026.
Asked if the comment was accurate, bridge officials say yes it is accurate. No specific opening day has been set.
