PITTSFIELD TWP., Mich. (WWJ) – A paramedic in Washtenaw County is hospitalized after a crash involving an ambulance Monday afternoon.
Authorities say the crash happened on Michigan Avenue near US-23 around 4:30 p.m.
While it wasn’t exactly clear what led to the crash, officials tell WWJ the paramedic was transporting a patient in the ambulance at the time it collided with another vehicle.
Huron Valley Ambulance Spokesperson Marc Breckenridge tells WWJ everyone involved is expected to be okay, including the patient, who was taken to the hospital in another ambulance.
The paramedic driving the ambulance was taken to a hospital in stable condition, while the driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
Authorities did not say why the patient was being taken to the hospital in the first place.
Police were on-scene investigating the crash for an extended period of time, but it was not impacting traffic.
