LINCOLN PARK (WWJ) – Parts of Wayne County are under a Flood Advisory Sunday evening after scattered rain showers hit the area earlier in the day.
The National Weather Service says portions of the county saw more than an inch of rain Sunday and another inch or two could be on the way.
Parts of the Downriver area, including Lincoln Park, Wyandotte, Southgate, Allen Park, Melvindale and Ecorse, are under a Flood Advisory until 8:15 p.m.
With heavy rain and potential thunderstorms indicated on radar, the NWS says urban and small stream flooding can be expected.
The extra inch or two of rain Sunday night “will result in minor flooding,” according to the NWS.
The NWS says drivers should never drive through standing water. Other tips on how to stay safe in a flood can be found on the NWS website.
