PETOSKEY (WWJ) -- A Petoskey, Michigan, man is facing possible prison time after police say he was caught with child pornography on his personal computer.
According to Michigan State Police, their investigation of 37-year-old Travis Michael Stoker began after he brought his personal computer with him to work, at a business that was not publicly identified by police.
MSP said Stoker had been using the computer to assist a customer who was researching products. When the customers came back while Stoker wasn't there, another employee looked on Stoker's computer to try to help the customer further.
That's when the person saw images he believed to be child phonography, and police were notified.
Troopers with the MSP Gaylord Post got a search warrant, seized the computer and turned it over to the MSP Computer Crimes Unit — which confirmed that it did contain illegal images of children.
A report was submitted to the Emmet County Prosecutor’s Office, a warrant was issued, and Stoker was arrested on Jan. 28.
He was booked in the Emmet County Jail and arraigned in 90th District Court on four counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity, four counts of Possession Child Sexually Abusive Material, and eight counts of Using a Computer to
Commit a Crime. Stoker's bond was set at $20,000, and his next court date was set for Feb. 28.
