AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide in Auburn Hills.
Auburn Hills Police officers went to the Holiday Inn Express at 3990 Baldwin Road around 10:45 p.m. Friday for a report of a possible domestic violence incident. Officers heard two gunshots as they were in the hallway approaching the room.
Upon entering the room, officers found a 34-year-old Saginaw woman and a 33-year-old Vassar man dead. A 3-year-old girl was also found in the room unharmed.
Authorities said the preliminary investigation, which was conducted with assistance from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab, showed the man shot the woman before shooting himself.
The child was taken to a local hospital out of “an abundance of caution” before being released to a family member.
Autopsies for both will be performed by the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The names will not be released at this time out of respect for their families, the Police Department said.
“This was an isolated incident between the two deceased individuals, no one else was injured or involved in the altercation,” the press release said.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who has information or may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Auburn Hills Police Department at 248-370-9460.
