FOWLERVILLE (WWJ) -- Three people are behind bars, facing charges after a wild police chase earlier this week in Livingston County.

The Fowlerville Police Department said, at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, it's officers "sprang into action" to help Livingston County Sheriff's deputies as they were chasing suspects who fled after an alleged "retail fraud incident" at the Tanger Outlets in Howell.

In a social media post, the Fowlerville PD described the pursuit this way:

"Officer Edmonds strategically positioned himself at the Grand River Ave and Grand Ave intersection, spotting the suspect Red Nissan Ultima racing through the village at astonishing speeds. Determined to ensure public safety, Officer Edmonds initiated a pursuit, but the suspect vehicle continued to evade authorities, resulting in a series of crashes within the Village of Fowlerville."

Despite what the department called "the chaos," police said no civilians were injured in any of the crashes.

The suspect vehicle finally stopped in front of the Sunoco gas station on South Grand Ave., and two suspects inside were arrested.

A third suspect tried to escape, police said, but was found hiding in a Wendy's restaurant on S. Grand Ave., thanks to a tip, and was also taken into custody.

"The coordinated efforts of the Fowlerville Police Department were supported by the Livingston County MI Sheriff's Office , Livingston County EMS , Fowlerville Firefighters, and Livingston County 911 Central Dispatch . We extend our gratitude to all involved for their swift and decisive actions in ensuring the safety of our community," the Fowlerville PD added.

The names of the suspects have not yet been released, with charges pending.

There is no information at this time about the alleged incident at the mall.
