INKSTER (WWJ) - Police are investigating what led to the death of a 45-year-old Inkster man after his body was discovered inside his home with an apparent gunshot wound on Friday.
Inkster police said they received three 911 calls to check on the homeowner, identified as a 45-year-old man, on Friday (March 22) at his residence on Standford Street, near Beech Daly and Annapolis.
Officers went to the home twice and couldn't get a response -- but on the third visit, the man's body was found with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
"The 911 calls came in as check the well-being of the subject that lives in the home," police chief Tamika Jenkins told FOX 2. "Two of the times the officers went there, they didn't get an answer at the door, so they cleared the location."
Jenkins said the first two 911 calls came from an unknown woman while the third call came from a friend of the homeowner, who told police that they had found the 54-year-old inside.
Jenkins said no one else was inside the home expect the man's dog. The animal was taken in by animal control as officers launched a homicide investigation.
"They are processing the house, process the scene, seeing if they can find or collect any evidence," Jenkins said.
No suspects have been arrested in connection to the case. No other details were released.
