OAK PARK (WWJ) - Shopping at a Metro Detroit Family Dollar came to sudden and terrifying halt after gunfire erupted at the store on Friday evening.

Police were seen collecting evidence at the store located on Coolidge and Nine Mile in Oak Park shortly after the shooting was reported around 8:30 p.m. on August 4.

According to WXYZ, investigators at the scene erected evidence markers as they located half a dozen bullet casings in the parking lot as well as inside the Family Dollar and inside the Grace Centers of Hope Thrift Store next door.

A Dodge Charger in the parking lot also sustained a number of bullet holes.

Police have remained tight-lipped about the incident, but shoppers were reportedly in the store when shots began ringing out. The circumstances that led up to the shooting remain unclear.

A video taken by a witness and posted to the web showed at least one person was injured and was filmed being carted away on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance.

Police have yet to confirm if there were any victims. So far, no information about a suspect has been released.
