Police seeking suspect in Pontiac bar shooting caught on surveillance video

PONTIAC, Mich. (WWJ) -- The search is on for a suspect seen on video shooting another man in the parking lot of a Pontiac bar.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office first learned of the incident early Thursday morning when they were called to  McLaren Oakland Hospital on the report of a shooting victim who had just been dropped off.

The victim, a 22-year-old man from Waterford Township, said he had been at Satch's Place bar on Baldwin when a fight broke out in the parking lot. The victim said he tried to jump in and break up the fight, when a suspect pulled out a gun and fired a shot, striking him in the leg.

Deputies responded to Satch's Place and found a single shell casing in the parking lot, a black jacket, a key on a lanyard and a red hat. The black jacket was determined to belong to the shooting victim, authorities said.

The sheriff's office has released surveillance video of the incident, which is time stamped at about 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 14.

The video shows a group of people, mostly males, arguing and fighting. One of the males, believed to be in his late 20s, walked out of the parking lot and into some nearby trees. He soon returned with a handgun and fired a single shot at the victim.

The group of fighting subjects then ran away in various directions.

At one point in the video, the shooter is seen wearing the red hat found at the scene.

The victim was said to be in stable condition on Friday.

As authorities continue to investigate the shooting, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who knows the suspect or has information regarding the incident to come forward.
