DETROIT (WWJ) -- An urban farm in Detroit is continuing to search for three farm animals that were allegedly stolen off their property early Friday morning.

According to WWJ's Charlie Langton, a bull, a sheep and a goat are still missing after someone appeared to get into the barns at Pingree Farms, located on the campus of Milton Manufacturing at 301 East Grixdale in Detroit on the southwest corner of I-75 and 7 Mile Road.

Aaron Hale with Pingree Farms told FOX 2 that suspects in a black SUV were caught canvassing the property on security footage around 3 a.m.

One of the vehicles had a trailer hitched to the back, but it did not appear to have been made to transport animals.

"They worked their way over to the cows and they were opening the pens and just letting everything out and they grabbed three (animals) on their way," Hale said to FOX 2's Jessica Dupnack. "I could see him walking them across the street, into the vehicles."

The suspects are then seen on camera going through the property, opening gates and pens while appearing to spook the animals.

They snatched a bull, named 'Little Bully", and loaded him into the trailer while a sheep named "Angel" and a goat were put into the back of one of the SUVs.

Speaking to WWJ's Charlie Langton. the owner of Milton Manufacturing, Jim Green, said he thinks this may have been an inside job.

"Well, they cut the chain on the gate, came in, and they obviously knew which animals they were going for," Green said. "They came and grabbed the animals they wanted and turned the rest loose to run around the yard. Fortunately, none of them got out of the compound."

The animals were still missing as of Monday morning, and police are still investigating. Police said they do have some leads, but would appreciate any tips from the public about this case.

Pingree Farms is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide "neighborhood revitalization and youth education through agriculture," its website states. It sits in the shadow of Milton Manufacturing, a 300,000 square foot facility that specializes in metal fabrication, machining, plastic vac forming, industrial sewing.

According to their website, Jim and Shelly Green began transforming the neighborhood around the factory in 2010 by tearing down charred houses and replacing them with rows of crops.

"Tomatoes, squash, corn, cucumbers, eggplant… thousands of seedlings went into the ground with the help of a handful of volunteers," Pingree Farms states on their website. "In the fall, people from the neighborhood were invited to come help themselves to the fresh produce and enjoy the beauty of this urban farm."

In 2015, the Pingree Foundation was granted 501(c)(3) status and officially opened its doors where it continues to work with the people and businesses in the Detroit Metro area "to create community and abundance."

Anyone with any information about this alleged abduction should contact the Detroit Police Department. The non-emergency number is 313-267-4600.
