ALPENA (WWJ) – A Northern Michigan man is facing charges for allegedly sharing nude photos and pornographic videos of his girlfriend online without her permission.
John Michael Miller of Alpena is also accused of communicating with a man online for two years pretending to be her.
The 42-year-old Miller has been charged with one count each of malicious use of a telecommunications device, intentional dissemination of sexually explicit material and using a computer to commit a crime.
Authorities first learned of the case back in February 2021, according to Michigan State Police when a woman called police an Alpena to report Miller had been posting nude photos and pornographic videos of her online without her consent, as well as communicating with the man.
Miller allegedly sent the man nude photos of the victim and invited him over to watch them have sex through the bedroom window.
The woman learned Miller was doing this when the man showed up to her house “because he hadn’t heard from her in a while, and he was concerned.”
That’s also when the other man realized he hadn’t actually been communicating with the woman for two years.
During the investigation authorities found that nude images of the victim appeared on several adult websites without her consent. Miller had also been communicating with other men and sharing her photos.
After a report was submitted to the Alpena County Prosecutor’s Office, a warrant was issued for Miller’s arrest in May 2022. On May 27, troopers contacted Miller and informed him of the arrest warrant. Miller posted bond and was given a court date of June 21, but the arraignment was postponed until Oct. 18.
Miller waived his arraignment Tuesday in the 88th District Court in Alpena. His next scheduled court appearance is on November 11, 2022.
