
DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Police Department has released some suspect photos as it investigates a series of retail crimes in the city.
The DPD's 12th Precinct is asking for tips from the public as investigators are working to identify suspects involved in "an organized retail fraud ring" operating in Detroit.
Officials said they are looking for multiple suspects in this case, he multiple surveliene camera images released by police on Wednesday appearing to show two or three different people.
One of the alleged crimes, police said, took place on Thursday, August 31, at 12:40 p.m., at a business in the area of 7 Mile Road and Meyers. Police did not released details about what was stolen.





In a case like this, authorities say an organized networks of criminals steal goods from stores and then often resell them online, through Craigslist, eBay or social media sites.
Under Michigan law, people charged with these crimes can faces stiffer penalties than they would for simple retail fraud, with a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000 if convicted. They may also be ordered to pay restitution to the retailer.
