SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) -- There was a scare on Thursday regarding a man, who was believed to have a gun, who showed up at the Fox 2 News studios in Southfield.

WWJ's Charlie Langton said the man came to the TV station at around 10 a.m., did not make it past the guard shack out front, and that the Southfield PD was quickly on the scene.

The same man — who has a felony record — came to the station last week, but was sent away. At that time, security officers said they "believed" the man had a semi-automatic pistol, but the man left before Southfield Police arrived.

The man returned again on Thursday, and Southfield Police responded.

The man did not have a firearm this time, police said. Officers searched the man and the vehicle, and did not find one.

Southfield Police said the man was advised about trespassing, and was told that if he returns to the station he can be arrested for trespassing.

As for why the man was there, police said he told officers he wanted to tell Fox 2 reporters about the time he spent in prison.

No one was hurt.

Editor's Note: Earlier reports by WWJ and other media that the man was found with a gun on Thursday were incorrect. Police said, at least the second time the man came to Fox 2, no firearms were found.
