LIVONIA (WWJ) -- New security concerns are prompting a response from police ahead of this weekend's Livonia Spree.
The Livonia Police Department said it's aware of social media posts suggesting a possible "teen takeover" planned at the popular festival — which includes carnival rides and a fireworks show — and are warning that disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
The Livonia PD said, in a statement:
'"The Livonia Police Department is aware of several social media posts referencing a potential 'Teen Takeover' at the Livonia Spree this weekend. Everyone is aware of the history of past 'Teen Takeovers' that have, many times, turned into mob-like disorderly, disruptive, or unlawful behavior. There will be zero tolerance, and everyone should expect enforcement action, including removal from the event, citation, or arrest, when appropriate. We look forward to a safe and successful Livonia Spree."
"Teen takeover" refers to a nationwide trend where large groups of adolescents use social media to coordinate massive, unpermitted gatherings at specific public spaces like downtown districts, malls, or parks.

The increase in attention to the Livonia Spree comes as organizers prepare to charge admission for the first time.
The admission feel will be in effect Sunday, June 26 — the day of the fireworks show — beginning at 4 p.m.. It's $5 for per person for residents, and $10 for non-residents, to enter.
Officials said the admission fee will help pay for increased security at the event, including metal detectors.
Also for the first time, a curfew will be in effect for the Spree. Anyone age 17 or younger must have a parent or guardian with them starting at 4 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
