Police searching for man who assaulted gas station clerk after argument [PHOTOS]

(WWJ) Detroit Police need help to identify a man who beat up a gas station clerk last month, sending him to the hospital.

At happened on Wednesday, Feb, 24, in the 6400 block of Van Dyke on the city's east side.

According to police, the 30-year-old victim was working at the gas station when he got into an argument with a customer.

The situation escalated when the went behind the behind the counter and began striking the victim with his fist multiple times, according to police.

Following the assault, the suspect fled the scene, driving away in a siver Chrysler Town and Country minivan.

The victim was taken to local hospital and treated for his injuries. No one else was hurt.

Now a couple of weeks later, police are still searching for the assailant, described as a Black male in his 40, with a dark complexion and gray and black facial hair.

He had a heavy build, estimated to weigh around 350lbs. police said.

The suspect was wearing a dark blue hat, dark blue hoodie, with gray shorts and black boots.

Police released photos of the man and his vehicle on Thursday, in hope that someone in the public will come forward with information.
