Police offer reward for information after man discovered shot to death in Pontiac apartment

PONTIAC (WWJ) -- Authorities are looking for help from the public to solve a deadly shooting that happened this week at a Pontiac apartment complex.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, 41-year-old Donald Whitfield was shot and killed just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 inside an apartment at the North Hill Farms complex, located in the 60 block of Fireside Lane off Cherry Hill Drive.


After arriving at the scene on reports that a man had been shot in his apartment, deputies discovered Whitfield had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.

Attempts to revive Whitfield were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Now, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects responsible for the fatal shooting.
