PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP (WWJ) The Plymouth Township Police Department is searching for a suspect in a home invasion and seeking tips from witnesses.

Plymouth Township Police said it happened on Tuesday, November 4, near the Ferrand Elementary School in the area of Haggerty and Five Mile. Authorities said the suspect, who broke into the home between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., stole credit cards and an unknown amount of cash.

No other information was released about the circumstances surrounding the break-in. Police have also not released any suspect information.

Authorities are also reminding homeowners to: check for easy access points (such as unlocked doors, low windows or tall shrubs that provide concealment), trim trees and shrubs; and secure doors and windows.

Police say homeowners should store their valuables in a safety or lock box, install security technology and stay "alert and connected" by communicating regularly with trusted neighbors about safety issues and avoiding sharing vacation plans on social media.

Investigators are requesting security footage of the break-in from neighbors. Anyone who may have witnessed the crime or has security footage should call Detective Sergeant Hayes at (734) 354-3232.
