DETROIT (WWJ) President Trump is slated to make an appearance in Detroit this coming week.
The Detroit Economic Club (DEC) announced he will address its members and their guests on Tuesday, January 13. His speaking program is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. at the MotorCity Casino Sound Board theatre.
Event tickets will only be available to DEC members and their guests.
This will be the President's third visit to the DEC. His first was during his initial campaign in August 2016 and his second was just weeks before the 2024 Presidential Election. The nonpartisan organization has hosted government officials since 1934, including sitting Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush.
Mr. Trump's visit will come one day before the start of the Detroit Auto Show's Media and Industry Preview Days. We asked our WWJ Auto Beat Reporter Jeff Gilbert if he thinks President Trump will stop by Huntington Place:
"You know a Presidential visit requires a lot of security. They wouldn't let us sit there rehearsing while they show him around the show floor," Gilbert said. "My gut tells me it's very doubtful the President will be at the show, but we could be surprised."
