REDFORD (WWJ) - Police in Wayne County are growing concerned for a 65-year-old woman with dementia after she went missing from the area on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Redford Police Department, Charlene Pearson was last seen around 2 p.m. on May 10 -- and she has not been seen or heard from since.


Pearson is diagnosed with dementia and authorities believe her disappearance puts her life at significant risk.

A photo of the 65-year-old was not released by police, but Pearson is described as a Black female that stands apporximently 5'4" tall and weighs 120 lbs. She was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt with pink letters, black pants, a light-colored headband and eyeglasses.

Anyone with any information that may help safely locate Pearson has been asked to call the Redford Township Police Department at 313-387-2551 or call 911.

The latest endangered missing persons alert comes days after a missing 77-year-old St. Clair County woman also living with dementia was discovered dead in the Huron National Forest in Northern Michigan's Oscoda County.

According to the woman's family, she had driven away from a relative's home in Loud Township and disappeared for several days until her vehicle was found stuck in an off-road snowmobile trail.

A search crew came across her body on Sunday, May 7, less than a mile from where her vehicle was found. She is believed to have died from exposure to the elements.
