(WWJ) -- A River Rouge woman is facing first-degree murder charges after allegedly shooting an estranged boyfriend after an argument about their kids.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says 30-year-old Theresa Imani Bragg is accused of fatally shooting John Laverette, 26 of Ohio.
The prosecutor's office says River Rouge police were called to a residence in the 20 block of Linden Street in River Rouge on the report of a shooting around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.
When officers arrived, they found Laverette unresponsive on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Bragg was arrested at the scene, police said.
Bragg and Laverette had gotten into an argument over the two children they had in common, prosecutors said. While the children were not in the home at the time, authorities say the argument escalated and Bragg allegedly armed herself with a gun and shot Laverette multiple times.
Bragg has been charged with one count of premeditated first-degree murder and one count of felony firearm.
She was expected to be arraigned Wednesday in 25th District Court.
