(WWJ) A feel-good Christmas movie that was shot at a historic hotel in northern Oakland County will hold its world premiere at a historic theatre in Detroit.
"Christmas at The Holly Hotel," was filmed on location at the Holly Hotel in Holly, Michigan, last winter — before a fire severely damaged the inn.
Along with the Holly Hotel, other filming locations included the Holly Police Department and Flint's Bishop International Airport.
The movie will be shown to the public for the first time at the Redford Theater on Sunday, December 4, 2022. Tickets for the 5 p.m. showtime have sold out, but a 12 p.m. showtime has been added. Doors will open at 11 a.m. with a red carpet reception, and there will be a meet-and-greet with the cast following the showing.
A posted synopsis for the film, by JPR studios, makes plain this is one of those romantic "Hallmark-style" holiday movies that most of us know, and some of us love.
Here's what it's about: "A modern women of 30 years old, Kathy is extremely happy in NYC. She finally has the right apartment, plenty of Wall Street suitors, and her own career as a food critic. She is living the life of her dreams, or is she?
When Kathy's parents, the owners of Michigan's Historic Holly Hotel, ask her to return for Christmas, things become less clear for her. She reconnects with family, finds the career that she truly enjoys, and falls in love with a handsome and kind police officer.
Are her dreams and desires all truly in NYC? Or does she belong right here in little Holly, Michigan?"
The film stars Jesi Jensen and Joe Kurak.
