MT. PLEASANT (WWJ) -- More details have emerged about the school bus crash in Mount Pleasant involving a ski club that sent several students to the hospital.

Reports show that the bus, traveling on US-127 near M-46, was carrying 24 students from Ithaca Public Schools and three adults on board when it went off the road, re-entered and then rolled over Wednesday afternoon.

A sergeant from the Mount Pleasant Post was a half-mile from the crash when it happened and was immediately able to help.

Nine students were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, including one with a broken arm.

The driver and chaperone were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Five students have since been released.

Uninjured students were transported to Shepherd High School, where they were reunited with parents.

US-127 was left closed for several hours during cleanup efforts, but has since reopened.

MSP has not said what led to the crash, but authorities posted pictures of the bus overturned off the highway. A part of the bumper is seen lying next to the bus.

It was not clear whether any other vehicles were involved or if anyone else was injured.

The investigation is still ongoing and police say they will provide more details as they become available.
