PAULDING, Mich. (WWJ) -- The search for a missing teenager with special needs in the Upper Peninsula continued Monday amid snowy conditions, and then ended in tragedy.

His body was found late Monday.

"Cam's body was found about an hour ago," his mother, Jill Keeley-Besonen, posted to Facebook Monday evening. "Thank you to all who participated in the search. He is with Jesus!"

Cam Besonen's family says the 17-year-old, who has autism and is non-verbal, was last seen Friday in Ontonagon County.

Hundreds of community members searched for Besonen over the weekend, as snow continued to fall near the town of Paulding, located about 20 miles north of the Michigan-Wisconsin border in the western U.P.

Search crews were back out in full force on Monday as Michigan State Police were assisting with K9 units and aviation support.

Besonen was last seen wearing a long-sleeve shirt and jeans -- clothes that authorities say don't offer much protection in cold weather.

Jill Keeley-Besonen says her son has no sense of direction and doesn't know how to yell for help, according to a story from Up North Live.
