(WWJ) -- A second man involved in the alleged plot to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer is planning to plead guilty, according to court records.
Kaleb Franks has agreed to plead guilty to charges of kidnapping conspiracy on Monday.
Franks said he willfully conspired with five other men in the kidnapping plot before FBI agents got involved and arrested the group back in October 2020.
According to court documents, the maximum sentence for this charge is life in prison, a $250,000 fine, five years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment.
In 2021, Ty Garbin was the other man who plead guilty and he was sentenced to more than six years in prison.
The four other men will face trial in March.
In October of 2020, the government said it derailed a plan to kidnap Whitmer by anti-government extremists who were retaliating against the governor's COVID restrictions in the state.
