Detroit senior apartment complex evacuated after early morning blaze breaks out

Elderly residents at a Detroit senior apartment complex were forced to make evacuations on Thursday as fire crews worked to extinguish an early morning fire.

DETROIT (WWJ) - Elderly residents at a Detroit senior apartment complex were forced to make evacuations on Thursday as fire crews worked to extinguish an early morning fire.

As reported by FOX 2, the blaze broke out at at Lexington Village in the 1300 block of Pallister around 4 a.m. The fire was said to have started in the back of the building on the 11th floor

Fire fighters at the scene were able to contain the fire to a single unit, but several of the senior residents living on the same floor and the one below were forced to evacuate.

Several seniors were taken to the hospital as a precaution, but authorities said no injuries were reported.
