DETROIT (WWJ) Two people were arrested in connection to shots fired at a window of the Guardian Building in downtown Detroit over the weekend.
Detroit Police told WWJ they received a call about the shooting from security at the Guardian Building, on Grisworld near Larned, on Saturday, July 19, around 5 a.m.
Authorities said two suspects were taken into custody "in the area," shortly after the shooting. They confirmed the vehicle matched the description of the car involved in Friday's shooting at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center just around the corner.
Police said, on Friday (7/18) at approximately 5 a.m., suspects in a grey sedan fired shots from a pellet or BB gun at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Building. The shots damaged at least seven windows on the building, which serves as the headquarters for Detroit City Government. It also houses courtrooms and Wayne County government offices.
No one was inside the Coleman A. Young Municipal Building at the time. The cleaning staff discovered the damage about an hour after the shooting when they arrived, police said.
No one was injured in either shooting.
Police have not released any information on the suspects' identities. They are also not confirming if the shootings are connected.
