DETROIT (WWJ) - The Lodge has reopened after Michigan State Police troopers shut down the southbound lanes late Friday morning, to investigate a reported freeway shooting.
According police, two men sought emergency medical care at Sinai-Grace overnight, telling hospital staff that they were shot on the southbound Lodge Freeway.
MSP then shut down a stretch of the freeway to investigate the victims' claims.
WWJ's Charlie Langton reported troopers were walking the freeway with a K9 team, in search of shell casings.
According to MSP, the victims told Detroit Police that the shooting happened on southbound M-10 somewhere in between 7 Mile and Wyoming, after the men had left an unknown club located on 7 Mile and Greenfield. "That's a large area," Langton noted.
MSP said the victims could not provide a description of the suspect vehicle.
In an early-afternoon update, MSP said troopers have recovered the victims' vehicle and completed an evidence sweep on the freeway.
One of the wounded men remains hospitalized in critical condition, and the second is listed in serious condition, according to MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw.
"This is another example of someone using a gun to settle a dispute," Shaw said, in a statement. "We are fortunate that no one else was seriously hurt!"
An investigation by the MSP Freeway Investigation Support Team in ongoing.
