Michigan State Police are touting a massive bust following a four-month investigation into illegal prescription drug sales across multiple metro Detroit communities.

On Wednesday, the Metro Narcotics Enforcement Team (M.N.E.T) served eight search warrants — in Dearborn, Garden City, Inkster and Lincoln Park in connection with the operation.

Two suspects, a 36-year-old Dearborn man and and a 42-year-old Inkster, were arrested.

Detectives also seized over $800,000 in cash and over 36,000 illegal prescription pills; plus four luxury cars, $300,000 in watches and nine guns, police said.

As part of the investigation MSP said officers discovered an unlicensed marijuana grow operation in a warehouse with more than 100 plants. That part of the case is being further investigated by the MSP Marijuana and Tobacco Investigation Section.

Police did not release the names of the people arrested, but said they are believed to be "a major supplier of illegal prescription drugs in the metro Detroit area." The two men were released pending authorization of charges, MSP said.

The following MSP multi-jurisdictional task forces assisted in serving the warrants: County of Macomb Enforcement Team (COMET) and Monroe Area Narcotics Team and Investigative Services (MANTIS).

MNET is multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of: Taylor, Allen Park, Dearborn, Detroit, Garden City, Inkster, Van Buren Township, Michigan Department of Corrections, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the MSP Diversion Investigation Unit.

MNET was also assisted by the Drug Enforcement Agency and troopers from the Metro South Post.

Anyone with information about illegal drug activity in Wayne County is asked to call the MNET tip line at 734-947-1194. You can remain anonymous.
