GROSSE POINTE (WWJ) Brutal storms swept through Metro Detroit, leaving thousands without power and other damage in their wake.
The DTE outage map says over 27,000 customers lost power as a result. Livonia, Wayne and Romulus were among the hardest hit areas.
Trees and power lines blew down in Grosse Pointe Woods. The City's department of Public Safety reported downed power lines in the area of Fairford between E. Doyle and Ballantyne. Both DTE and the fire department responded to the scene.
Catherine Fought lives in Grosse Pointe Farms: "We have debris all over the street...I have a huge branch of my beautiful tree down in my front yard."
Dearborn, Ferndale and Monroe also had a lot of storm damage. In Dearborn, a tree crashed into a house and injured a young girl. She's expected to be okay.
On the west side of the state, a tornado may have touched down east of Caledonia in Kent County. The National Weather Service is slated to survey the area to confirm it was a tornado. Consumers Energy reports nearly 47,000 without power as of Friday morning in Kent, Ionia and Allegan counties.
