(WWJ) The pandemic may have changed the way Michiganders travel, at least temporarily.
Staying true to the old phrase, "home is where the heart is," a survey found about a quarter of Michiganders will be leaning toward a "stay-close-to-home-cation."
The survey of over 2,000 respondents conducted by One Poll and commissioned by Cooper Tires found that 28% of Michiganders will stay within the beautiful Great Lakes state when they travel this summer and focus on outdoor experiences.
The most desired experiences included: driving to the nearest lake or river (51%), visiting a national monument (49%), or a state park (47%).
At those locations, camping, swimming and fishing were the top activities on the list.
"With the window rolled down to scenic views, a cool breeze through your hair and your favorite song blasting in the background, it's hard to list the negative aspects of a road trip – especially with good company!" the polling company's press release said.
Nearly two thirds of Michiganders prepare their car specifically for a special summer road trip, according to the survey.
