DETROIT (WWJ) - A suspect was taken into custody after police discovered a man shot inside a burning vehicle on Saturday morning, Detroit police said.
Detroit police spokesman Dan Donakowski said officers were dispatched to reports of gunfire in the 15000 block of Wyoming St., near Fenkell, shortly before 9 a.m. on Jan. 7.
When officers arrived at the location, they found a male victim with apparent gunshot wounds inside a vehicle that was on fire.
The man was removed from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The case has been handed over to the department's homicide unit for further investigation. Donakowski told WWJ a male suspect was arrested in connection to the alleged murder, but further information -- including the circumstances leading up to the man's death -- were not made available.
