DETROIT (WWJ) — A suspect is at large after firing shots at a driver on the freeway in Detroit late Saturday night.

Just before midnight the victim called 911 from I-96 near Joy Road and told police they had been shot at a short time before, while they were on I-75.

Michigan State Police troopers responded and learned the shooting happened along southbound I-75 between Rosa Parks Boulevard and 14th Street near Corktown.

The caller told police the suspect fired three shots out of the passenger window at their car. The caller was not hit, nor was the car, according to MSP.

MSP closed the freeway for several hours to search for evidence.

Authorities do not have a description of the suspect and have not established a motive in the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.

Officials are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or knows something about it to call 855-MICH-TIP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
